There was a time when questions were raised over Erik Lamela’s longevity in football due to his troublesome injury woes.

The Tottenham Hotspur winger spent a year on the sidelines with hip problems and underwent multiple operations in a bid to fix the issue.

Lamela returned to action in November and has gone on to make 24 appearances in all competitions, but only three of those games have been Premier League starts.

In fact, the Argentine has played a full 90 minutes on just three occasions, and all of those fixtures were in the FA Cup.

Since returning to action, Lamela has scored two goals and produced four assists, and even though he has been playing somewhat of a bit-part role, Tottenham fans have been delighted with his contribution.

While speaking to the club’s official website, the 26-year-old spoke of the club’s opportunity to reach the FA Cup final as they prepare to face Manchester United for a spot in the competition showpiece.

Lamela also admitted that he is “enjoying” football again, which prompted a reaction from the fans on Twitter.
