Danish club Odense have hit out at West Bromwich Albion after the Premier League club pulled the plug on a deal for Cameroon midfielder Eric Djemba-Djemba.
The 29-year-old former Manchester United and Aston Villa man was poised to seal a move back to England, before the Baggies reported a problem with Djemba-Djemba’s medical.
Odense director Kim Brink hit back by saying in a statement: “West Brom have confirmed to us that there was a problem with the medical and wanted a lower price.
“I don’t understand this. I want to confirm that Eric has no injuries whatsoever. Yes, he was injured during the spring, but he’s ready now.
“There are no problems, so I think it is a poor explanation by West Brom to get a better price.
“People can come and say whatever they want to get a better price, but if they really wanted Eric, they would pay what we agreed.

“I have experienced a lot in football and most things don’t surprise me, but this has surprised me because we were really close (to a deal).”
